Is this Safe?

Are Clinical Trials Safe?

You may be interested in participating, but first, you want to know: are clinical trials safe? You’re not alone. Most of our potential patients ask us this question while considering participation. After speaking with our staff and Research Coordinators, our potential participants have a much better idea of what to expect during a clinical trial.

Safe Clinical Trials Reviewed and Approved by the FDA

While our clinical trials involve researching investigational medications and therapies, the trials are closely regulated by government agencies, including the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) and IRB (Institutional Review Board), to ensure the safety of the research study and to determine the risks involved.

  • FDA (US Food and Drug Administration)—Before a research study can begin, the way it is conducted must be reviewed and approved by the FDA.
  • IRB (Institutional Review Board)—As a group of medical and non-medical representatives from the community, the IRB reviews human medical research studies for potential benefits and risks to be sure participants are completely informed.

Medications must be routinely researched, so many of the medications we investigate are oftentimes already available on the market. In fact, we only accept phase II, III and IV clinical trials. That means they have already completed the first phase of clinical trials before we begin our investigation. Many of our participants have such a positive experience in our trials that they request to participate again in future trials.

At Medical Research Group of Central Florida, You Receive the Best Care

From the very first moment you apply to participate, our staff ensures you’re completely informed by answering all your questions and thoroughly explaining the trial specifics. Then, throughout the clinical trial, our experienced physicians monitor your progress through each stage of participation.

We ensure you’re comfortable with participation at all times. In fact, we freely invite you to ask questions at any time, and if you feel uncomfortable, you can stop the trials at any point.

"I have been seeing Dr. Thebaud for a few years now. I even moved to a different county and choose to drive to see him for care each month. I do this because I am comfortable with him treating me and don't think I could find a doctor I like closer to home. My needs were put first."

Patient T

"Dr. T is a really good and caring Doctor. I would recommend him to anyone. Very sensitive and listens really well, and cares about patients problems. The meds have been working like a charm for a year and a half now."

Patient R

"The attention I received while in the clinical study was great. The coordinators were always available to answer my questions and being able to have the one on one attention for my illness allowed me to understand my situation better."
